This Task I have to research about health and how to stay healthy. A Few weeks ago Trish talked to us about Heard Foundation and also she told us we can do volunteer work  on 25th October .After that I am interested in being a Heart Foundation volunteering at the 2012 adidas Auckland Marathon. Then I enrolled my name as volunteer to support them. Also Trish suggested me to visit Heart Foundation for Task 6.

Here is the website for more information.
Heart Foundation

I sent a email to one of the Trish friends who work there.

Dear Jennifer
I was given your name as a possible person to interview by my lecture, Trish Bartlett.
My name is Maryam, I'm student at Unitec, studying a diploma in English, I'm doing some research about health and so I am interested in visiting the Heat Foundation. Could I possibly  make an appointment for an interview with you or someone you would recommend? It will take about 10 minutes and I need to record a short segment of interview as well. Is that alright with you?
Can I make an appointment for next week after class at anytime from 2pm?
What time would be convenient for you?
Here is some question I may ask :
1. What causes a heart problem?
2. what are the symptoms of heart problem?
3. who is at greatest risk of a heat disease?
4.What tests are used to diagnose a heart problem?
5. How is a heart disease treated?
6.What kind of exercise should people do if they have a heart problem?
7.what's the best diet for someone who has a heart disease?
8. Can smoking cause heart disease in younger people?

Best Regards
Maryam

Thanks for your email Maryam.
And thank you for including your questions as it helps me to work out who would be best for you to interview.
I will talk to my work colleague, Gabrielle Gallagher, who may be the person you interview, and get back to you with possible dates and times for next week.
If Gabrielle isn't available - she is a busy lady - then I will answer your questions.  However, I am away until Wednesday so it may be towards the end of the week - either Thursday or Friday.
I will be in touch about:

  1.  Who will answer your questions
  2.  Possible dates and times for the interview

Have a good Labour Weekend.

Regards
Jen

Reflection
For Final Task, I had to research about health and how to stay healthy. So I decided to interview someone in Heart Foundation. First of all I sent email to make an appointment and I had a pleasant interview with Gabriell who is a Cardiovascular risk training coordinator at Heart Foundation.
The Heart Foundation is a New Zealand heart health charity that helps people affected by heart disease. They help people make healthy living choice. Also they run programs to encourage Kiwi heart health.
Gabriell prepared all the answers of my questions and also for each question she brought a brochures with photos and during the interview she used photos to explain. Unfortunately I understood 70% of our conversation because talking about  heart and heart disease a little bit out of my vocabulary knowledge. I was lucky because my main subject in my back home was science and I caught up 70% of the interview.
I made an appointment with her for 10 minutes but It seemed answering my question took about 30minutes.
Her time was tight so she told me to read the other information by myself.
A day after my interview I did volunteer to help out with the adidas Auckland Marathon and they raised the money for Heart Foundation. I met 3 students from Mt Albert also they are studying diploma1. My job was checking the athletics numbers and gave them a T-shirt and their transport ticket. Next year I will definitely do this type of thing again. I will definitely recommend to anyone thinking about a volunteer programs because I really enjoyed and I had a good filling about that.

Over all, I think I did my task 6 very well and Iam happy with my interview, I realized that my task 6 is my best task because my English is improving day by day.
