task2

For task2 I had to research my future plans.
I would love to study Microbiology and I would like to work in a hospital as a lab assistant so I decided to search and check the Universities in Auckland to find out which one has the subject that I am interested in.
I found  AUT university in city has that subject. First I went to AUT(medical laboratory science department) in the city campus and had a very useful conversation with program leader. Her name is Holly Perry, she is a lovely woman and she gave me some helpful information about my study.
Here is the link for more information.

Medical laboratory science at AUT

Here is some question I asked.
  • What do I need to enter this course?
  • How many years should I study to get my qualification?
  • Does it have a full time or part time options?
  • What level of English should I have?
  • Do you accept any other English language qualification?
  • After graduating what kind of job can I get?
  • What's the average salary for graduate?

Here is a recording of our conversation.

My Reflection about Task2

Task 2 talk about my plan for future. Actually, I would love to work as a lab assistant in a hospital.
Firstly, I went to the AUT student center in the city. I asked some questions about the course that I want to study and he gave me a student guide book and he also told me for more information I should go to the department of medical laboratory science which is located in paula ST. So I made an appointment with someone who is a program leader, Her name is Holly Perry. She gave me useful information and some advise.
I felt that this Task was very useful because I can improve my listening and speaking by talking to people. During the meeting I was so nervous and shy but I tried to be brave and confident fortunately I succeed. I asked many questions and she patiently explained things to me.

This Task was also helpful because I learned to not be afraid to talk with Kiwi people and this has made me more confident.

I tried to record our conversation 4 times but I couldn't because I used sound cloud  for recording and  I thought it doesn't need to connect to Wi-fi . After finishing interview when I left her office I realized our conversation didn't record. It was a disaster and I felt embarrassed. I couldn't decide what I should do? Should I give up and made an appointment again or should I back to her office and ask her to give me another chance to interview  her again.
Then I decided to choose the second option. I went back to her office and I explained to her what had happened and she kindly accepted my request. I couldn't believe how lovely she is.

For the next Task, I will prepare everything before the interview.

  2. Well done, Maryam, you made a difficult decision to take a risk and ask to rerecord your interview. That must've been hard! I'm so glad Holly was gracious and agreed to your request. Your presentation conveyed a lot of information and showed you had understood Holly well. Thanks for your reflections. You certainly knew what to focus on next time.
